June 19th Equine Touch demo day was very successful especially after a hectic competition on the previous day with 85 vaulters. Very relaxing and much enjoyed by humans and horses alike. We will be looking at hosting training clinics on learning how to offer this wonderful experience to your horse.
June 18th Vaulting competition at Easterton was attended by 85 vaulters - WOW, Great success for our resident Eagles Group. Both team classes produced wins for Eagles and in the Junior Individual our 2 International girls came 1st and 2nd.
June 16th Dressage Douche and Kathryn excel at Gleneagles dressage June 16th. They gained 81% in the Prelim and 72.5% in the Novice to win both classes. The session with Janice on the clinic described below obviously reaped rewards.

June 4th Riding Biomechanics

We had the most wonderful presentation on the biomechanics of riding by Janice Hutchison, an accredited 'Ride with your Mind' Instructor. There were 6 riders participating and some spectators. All were included in the discussions and explanations and vbideo playback. The riders were a great mixture of levels and 'body shapes'. Janice showed ways for all to change something which was well evidenced in the going of the horse.
It highlighted that one size does not fit all and she gave each person something to help them towards the ideal model. Particular attention was paid to the use of core muscles.
INSPIRATIONAL
We will hold more clinics with her in August 4th/5th/6th ( dates to be confirmed) and October 8th/9th. If you are interested please get in touch soon as spaces will go rapidly. This lady is something special.

May 7th Eagles vaulters excel at Selection trial for the European Championships in August. Stephanie Hunter won the selection class on Rio Grande lunged by Kathryn Hunt, Louise Sinclair a close second, so both will make the trip to Le Mans to represent GB.

Combined training at Gleneagles 5th May: Douche sweeps the board in the Prelim and Novice with scores of 78.2% and 72.5%. Kathry thrilled to bits with him. He was the only horse we took

Dressage Gleneagles Grenadier and Kathryn win Advanced class. Gren 2nd and Pardouche 3rd in Novice class.
Horse Agility Workshop Sunday 17th April :

Vanessa Bee was an inspiration on how to work with your horse. Everything was geared to preparing to work your horse loose which meant that you really needed to get your horse to want to be with you.
A long time was spent on the feel of the rope and synchronising with your horse. People worked in pairs - one the horse and one the handler!
Vanessa stressed that leading well was the key to everything. Can you stop, go and change pace with a totally loose rope. It cecomes a dance with your horse.
People went away with lots of ideas to practice with their horse.

April 2nd
Just back from the first long trip in the new lorry all the the way to the first vaulting Selection trial at Bishop Burton near Hull. The horses, Rudi, Gren and Max from Kinross Group, travelled brilliantly and came out really fresh. Eagles vaulters performed really well with Molly winning the under 14 class and Steph coming 3rd in a hot selection class. The Intermediate team went very well to come 2nd.
Fantastic result for the first Horse Agility Taster Day ever held in Scotland. The competition was won by our very own Pavanne handled by Bobbie Coleman, the lovely lady who has Jupiter on loan. Tremendous turn out of spectators helped make the day a great success. Press release

The EEAC is getting geared up to run Horse Agility training and competition days. This will be the first centre in Scotland to offer this. It is a marvellous opportunity to give focus to the work started in Parelli classes. It is all about improving your communication with your horse through ground skills and this gives people a chance to show case their skills in a competitive environment if they wish.

It is all about having FUN and being safe.

All results are sent to the Horse Agility Club of Great Britain who enter them on a league table.

For more info please visit. To attend a training or competition day it is necessary to register yourself and your horse with the Horse Agility Club of GB .( not expensive)

Equine Assisted Learning

A Group of Youth workers spent a day discovering that horses are not so different from people. The gang (horses) at Easterton had a great day 'doing something different' from vaulting or trying to help people learn to ride better. This was all about personal development and team work using the horses in very different ways. Under the careful eye of Beth Duff from Aberdeen, the Group of 21 young people were split into groups of three and then played lots of different games with the horses.

They quickly realised that horses had as different personalities as people, some requiring motivating and others needing to calm down. Great fun was had finishing with egg an spoon races with the horses.
