Muriel Barclay

Grenadier is a homebred 16 year old 16.1 bay roan Welsh Part-bred gelding.
He doubles as a school horse and works as a vaulting horse with the Eagles Group. He has lovely smooth paces - the armchair canter - and is an excellent horse for ridden lunge work.

He competes very successfully with Individuals and Novice teams in vaulting, carrying Louise Sinclair from the Eagles Group to Junior Individual Champion. He has also carried the winning Novice team at the Scottish Championships.

He has competed successfuly in dressage to Elementary level and is Pat Taylor's ideal choice as a ridden horse for people to develop the correct feel.

Kathryn Jeffress received the rosette for the person with the highest number of points gained on one horse at the Strathearn Riding Club show summer 08.
He qualified for Blair and was 8th in the style Jumping Final.

She is now working on Flying changes with him

Fortuitous (SAM)

sponsored by ROSS OFFSHORE
Our second International Vaulting horse
and Medium dressage horse

Sam is a bright bay 17.1 gelding, joining the team of Easterton horses in July 07.

He was sponsored by Ross Offshore and is now a valuable member of the gang.

He came with 152 dressage points and a history of being a great all rounder.

He is a 75% TB and 25% Clydesdale 12 year old gelding. He appears to have taken the Clydesdale temperament and perhaps the hind leg!! He learnt the vaulting moves very quickly and also being used for one to one lessons. He is a very safe and reliable schoolmaster.

Spring 08 he carried the Eagles Junior team in Ermelo, Holland to a first place on the podium. See Eagles web-site for report.

He has also fitted in coming 4th in the Scottish Farmer Medium finals with Pat Taylor on board.

As you can see he loves a wee jump!

Sadly Sam has developed osteo arthritis in his coffin joint and will no longer travel abroad but after a year off he is still a valuable member of the Easterton Team especially for the UKCC courses.

Rio Grande (Rudi )

Our third International vaulting horse

Rudi is a Belgian Warmblood 17.00 chestnut gelding, 13 years old. Arrived May 08.

Rudi found us. He came for a lesson and told his owner he wanted to stay by refusing to load to go home! He was rather large for his diminutive owner and she volunteered to bring him for a vaulting trial.

He came up trumps and now is a very valuable asset to the Club. He is a very useful school horse with lovely paces and a great temperament.

Rudi with Steph

Steph, our international vaulter, on Rudi winning the Scottish Junior trophy October 2010

He learned so quickly how to be a vaulting horse, you would think he had done it before.

He is also a very useful lunge horse.

Update on Rudi - he is now an International vaulting horse, renamed Rio Grande, having represented GB at the European Championships 09 in Sweden - very exciting as he had only been vaulting for a year.

Rudi and Steph qualified again for last years FEI Junior Championhips in Austria.

Gleannmhor Pavanne

Homebred Welsh Part-Bred gelding, 16.2, born 2005.

He was raised by Ann using the Parelli system and is turning into a very confident and steady young horse.

June 2010 he went to Gleneagles dressage having discovered how to turn round in the lorry! Despite leaving the arena and an error of course he gained 3rd place in the Prelim test with Pat Taylor.

In October he won his first Novice test !

He competed in his first vaulting competition on 27th June 2010, ably lunged by Stephanie Hunter and his little vaulters all got rosettes

He is now earning his pocket money as one of the school horses and is proving very popular as a lunge horse.

Atrisco or GIZMO to his friends

Our first International Vaulting horse

I.D. X T.B. chestnut gelding, 17.2, born 1991 arrived at Easterton in 1997

Atrisco, started life as a show jumper and soon turned his talent to vaulting. He gained his International t-shirt representing GB in the 1998 WEG in Rome as a vaulting horse.

More affectionately known as Gizmo, he is well known by Gleneagles members and students, having lived there on loan for some years. He has now come home to enjoy his retirement and is much in demand, having competed with us to Advanced Medium.

He is our best school horse and has taught many people the rudiments of dressage. He is an ideal schoolmaster and lunge horse for any level of rider.

He had a long break from vaulting and has come back with a bang carrying the Eagles Novice team to a win at the British Champs at Rowallan October 2010.

At the tender age of 20 he is being trained as a side saddle horse and with his impeccable behaviour on the lunge will make an ideal scoolmaster for this elegant discipline.

Pardouche (Douche)

Pardouche is a bay, 17.2 Dutch Warmblood, born 1997. He arrived at Easterton 2009

He has taken a while to learn to trust people. He is a right brain Introvert and craves a leader. He thinks the world of Sam and they live together in the cattle court. We have brought him on very slowly and he did his first vaulting competition after 9 months of slowly building trust.

He has a wonderful nature and loves to follow you around at liberty.

Hopefully he will become a useful member of the team.
